"You and I are Earth"

Gallery East will next month exhibit the fabulous You and I are Earth running from May 3 - 6. Showing 46 small pictures (30 x 40cm) by well respected Norfolk artist, Claire Cansick, this is an important visual documentary of climate change in evidence around the globe.

Claire worked on this project during the whole of 2022 recording in paint significant climate change events as they were happening, brought to her via her tv screen, publication and social media. We see images of floods in Argentina and Pakistan, wild fires in Colorado US, receding coastlines in neighbouring Norfolk, floods in Nigeria, treeline expansion in the Arctic, hurricanes in Puerto Rico and Cuba and deforestation in the Amazon. All work is for sale.

The exhibition will be shown again in Norwich and at First Site, Colchester towards the end of 2023 and into early 2024. 

Claire Cansick graduated from Great Yarmouth School of Art and Norwich University of the Arts with a BA in Printmaking and identifies as a self-taught oil painter. She has exhibited widely throughout the UK in solo and group shows including selection for the Royal Academy Summer show in 2022. She has been a member of the international Arborealist group of artists since 2017.
