Radio presenter's shock death - live on air
GenX Radio Suffolk broadcaster Tim Gough died during a live broadcast earlier this morning (24 October).
According to GenX Radio, who issued the following statement, the radio star passed away from a suspected heart attack.
It reads: “It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Tim Gough on Monday 24 October at his home in Lackford, Suffolk at the age of 55. He will be lovingly remembered by his mother, brother, sister, and son. Tim passed away at 7:50am from a suspected heart attack while presenting his popular breakfast show on GenX Radio Suffolk. Tim was a hugely experienced and highly talented broadcaster with an army of fans for his daily programme. He is a very sad loss to radio and the county of Suffolk. The entire GenX Radio family are shocked and devastated beyond words. James Hazel, Managing Director of GenX Radio Suffolk says; “Tim has been on the radio since the 80s and had come out of radio retirement to fully involve himself in our project from the beginning, to bring local commercial radio back to his beloved Suffolk and was hugely excited for our DAB launch at the end of the month. To know Tim personally, as I did very closely for over 30 years, was to know a warm, caring, fun guy who myself and my family loved dearly. We are heart broken by the news. I know his family are enormously comforted by the hundreds of loving messages that have been received and have asked for privacy at this devastating time”.
Details of a funeral service are not yet known.
Here at Living In Suffolk Coastal magazine we wish to send our deepest condolences to Tim’s family and all the team at GenX Radio at this devastating time.
