EACH mile counts!
By Abygail Fossett
It might be autumn now, but we’re not ready to hibernate just yet! Eighteen months of the pandemic have kept many of us desperate to get out for a good stomp after a long day’s work – a craving to be out in the fresh air, relishing that sense of freedom.
With impeccable timing, our very own East Anglia’s Children’s Hospice (EACH) is gearing up for its November Challenge, EACH Mile Counts. They are challenging each and every one of us to travel 100 miles during the month of November. How you choose to complete it is entirely up to you – walking, running, cycling, swimming, the list is endless.
As Becky Redbound, EACH events Fundraising Manager, tell us; “Whether you’re a novice or super-fit, this is the challenge for you during November.
“It’s your challenge and you can do it your way. It’s a great way of supporting children living with life-threating conditions, while ticking off an amazing fitness milestone for 2021.
“All we ask is that you try and raise £100. That’s £1 for every mile covered – and if you hit that target you’ll receive a special medal in the post. Money raised from this challenge will make an enormous difference and help children, young people and families across East Anglia.”
EACH has been supporting terminally-ill children and their families for over thirty years, its Milton premises being opened by Diana, Princess of Wales in 1989, a time when there were reportedly just four children’s hospices in the entire world.
Today, those at EACH are recognised as leaders in their field, and strive to offer care and support that is tailored to meet the needs of all family members.
They rely heavily on donations, and this year need to raise £5.5 million from fundraising.
By taking part in their November Challenge, we can all contribute in some small way to the invaluable work they do within our community.
