How does your garden grow?

How does your garden grow?

News in from Suffolk Coastal:

“A school garden is set to blossom following donation from two local Councillors. Funding from Suffolk Coastal’s Enabling Communities Budget has helped a local primary school buy equipment for their garden project. Together Cllr Geoff Holdcroft and Cllr Patti Mulcahy gave £765 from their Enabling Communities Budget to support Friends of St Mary’s Primary School purchase garden equipment and technical toys.

Friends of St Mary’s are a non-profit parent-teacher organisation whose mission is to raise funds through fun and profitable activities in a safe and friendly environment for supplemental materials, equipment and experiences for pupils at St Mary’s Primary School in Woodbridge.

Cllr Holdcroft and Cllr Mulcahy said: “We are really pleased that we were able to join together and donate the money for this important project for St Mary’s School.

“The children really benefit from the garden, both during lessons and in the after school gardening club. It is a great way for them to learn about growing their own things, such as vegetables and they have put a lot of work into it.”

The donation paid for gardening equipment, such as wheelbarrows, gardening gloves and compost, allowing the children to enjoy learning growing things and taking care of their outdoor space. The school’s garden is used both during school lessons and by the after school gardening club. “
