WE ARE DETECTIVE!

Become a House Detective at The Hold?

Have you ever looked at your home and wondered about its previous inhabitants?  Would you like to learn some tips and tricks for uncovering the history of your home?

Our upcoming Becoming a House Detective series aims to do just that! This series is perfect for anyone curious about their home's past, from history buffs to new homeowners.  It's a chance to connect with your community and gain a deeper appreciation for the place you call home.

Local historian and author Stephen Jeffery-Poulter will lead the workshops and share his experience of uncovering information about the owners and residents of his 17th-century cottage in a rural village in East Anglia. He will provide an overview of the various research procedures, online resources, and documents available at The Hold and online, which can be used to investigate any period property.

After each class, participants will have exclusive access to a range of relevant records and manuscripts from Suffolk Archives’ collection in The Hold’s Searchroom. Welcome refreshments are included.
